Roald Dahl’s Matilda – Ms Trunchbull’s chocolate cake

This weekend I watched a family classic, Matilda. As soon as I switched the movie a river of memories came flooding back into my head, and I found myself jumping and laughing during the whole film, despite the fact that I’ve watched it before. Of all the characters in the film, I must commend Roald Dahl for creating a character as horrible as Ms Trunchbull, she is quite the woman and it’s astounding that someone with such an imagination could conjure up a lady such as herself. So, to commemorate the film, and the character I so ill speak of, I dedicate this week’s fictional feed to:

✨ Ronald Dahl’s Matilda ✨ – Trunchbull’s chocolate fudge cake 🍫🍰

Ingredients:
Boxed chocolate cake mix
2x eggs
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup of milk
250 grams of dark chocolate
1 carton of whipping cream

Method:
1. Turn oven on 180 degrees (160 fan forces)
2. Pour cake content into bowl, add eggs, milk and oil. Mix on medium speed for 3 minutes.
3. Pour batter into round cake tin, and place in oven cooking for 45-50 minutes.
4. Heat cream up over low on the stove top. Take off stove top and add chocolate melts. If it hasn’t reach a rich consistency, add more chocolate.
5. Remove cake from oven. Cool down, cut through the centre.
6. Add ganache and spread evenly between the layers. Add cake top and spread remaining ganache.

Verdict: Box cake. Honestly, nothing gets more simple than that. As long as you follow the instructions, you can’t stuff it up! The ganache however, is a total game changer. Makes any cake 10x better and more luxurious! Would totally recommend (please advise, this is worth sharing as not all of us are as greedy as Ms Trunchbull!).
